Edmondson explained God, “told me He had something for me,” and instructed Edmondson on how to create tools. He began sculpting gravestones, working in his backyard with cast-off pieces of limestone from Nashville’s demolished buildings. His backyard became a menagerie. A few years later he was showing in New York.
